I’m excited to share a recent milestone in my ongoing research journey! From 21 June to 1 July 2025, I had the opportunity to carry out a Short-Term Scientific Mission (STSM) in Tirana, Albania, supported by a grant within the framework of COST Action CA21133: Globalization, Illicit Trade, Sustainability and Security (GLITSS).
The focus of this STSM was:
“The Role of Artificial Intelligence in Addressing Illicit Trade in Bosnia and Herzegovina and Albania.”
This mission forms part of my broader research on AI and irregular trade, which spans and also includes comparative perspectives.
During my stay in Tirana, I conducted in depth research and engaged in valuable academic exchanges related to the intersection of AI technologies, security policy, and illicit trade prevention. The visit provided a unique opportunity to explore pressing regional challenges and innovative technological responses.
I would like to express my deep gratitude to the COST Association and the GLITSS network for their continued support of my research agenda. A heartfelt thanks also goes to Prof. Dr. Besa Shahini from the University of Tirana, Faculty of Economy, whose generous collaboration and insights enriched the entire process. A special appreciation to the University of Tirana for hosting me and providing a stimulating platform for exploring the role of emerging technologies in promoting transparency and security in the region.
A publication based on the findings of this STSM is currently in preparation. I look forward to sharing more soon!
