Exploring Safety, Security, and Sustainability: Launching Volume 1 of Three-Volume Series

Posted on September 13, 2025September 13, 2025 by Mirela Imsirovic

I am delighted to share the launch of Volume 1, the first in a three-volume series exploring some of today’s most pressing global challenges. I serve as one of the editors of the series, which examines issues through the lenses of safety, security, and sustainability, bringing together diverse perspectives and interdisciplinary insights. My focus within the series is on irregular migration and its humanitarian and legal consequences, which I explore in the broader context of the book’s themes.

The launch was held as part of the GLITSS project, under the European Cooperation in Science and Technology (COST). The workshop at the University of Groningen brought together colleagues and partners to discuss the book’s key topics, providing an excellent platform for dialogue, collaboration, and knowledge exchange.

Volume 1 is just the beginning. I look forward to continuing this journey with the upcoming volumes, exploring critical topics, and sharing insights that can help navigate complex global challenges.

Stay tuned for more updates, and join us as we continue to explore, share, and inspire through this work.
